You may, or may not have noticed, that this site hasn't had any new images added since mid-March. Not sure why this happened, but I am happy to announce that this site is back up and running, and you will be seeing more posts.
Blast From the Past. I've never seen anything like this before, so it was a must that I share it with you all. This is straight out of the 1950s. So cool looking.
War-torn, But Not Really. Looking at this photo again, it almost seems like something you'd find on the fields of battle, or at least as part of a first-person video game. Wrong. This is actually looking down on a few straps from a cool looking U-haul trailer.
Evening Sun. Nothing says contrast better than when the even ing sun comes in through a window and only hits parts of the room. Love the different values in this picture.
Fresh Cut. Got off the van the other day and a wave of pleasantries hit me in the face. It was the first cut of the grass at the park where the van leaves from. I do love the smell of fresh cut grass.
Cornered. If you look close, you can see what appears to be pine cones is really those spiky seeds that fall off the trees. Not sure what they are called, but I'd hate to step on one barefoot.
A Stitch In Time... Riding the van home the other day, I looked down at my jeans and admired how a small thing like a hole in jeans from months of wear and tear is now done on purpose and widely accepted in todays society. Funny how times change.
Assassin's Creed. As many of you know, I am a person of many interests and hobbies. Video games happens to be one of them, time permitting. While waiting for the van the other day, and freezing my fingers off, I realized that I had a jacket on that did in fact have a hood I wasn't using. I put it on and looked at my shadow. It reminded me of the main character of the Assassin's Creed game.
Coloring Outside the Lines. Hey, they teach a lot of things in school, but this creation is something all of it's own. Part of the re-tarring of the parking lot, this definitely caught my eye, as I hope it does yours.
Signs of Life. With spring right around the corner, there are signs of new life emerging everywhere. I found this tiny plant catching some warm afternoon rays and was reminded of just how delicate life can be.
Eat Your Heart Out, Hollywood. I absolutely love pics of clouds, especially when the sun is peeking through. These are original special effects, no CGI needed.
Only if Other Things in Life Were This Simple. Seriously, if all of life's decisions were this easy, it might be nice for a while, but I think it would get real old, real fast.
The Parking Lot Bandit. It seems that with the nice weather the past few days, it was the perfect time for the parking lot to get a fresh spattering of tar over the top of the old tar. I personally think this looks like a sneaky bandit.
Outreach. Funny thing about trees is that they always seem to be reaching out to you—or for you. No wonder scary movies make use of tree limbs at night.
Separation. I passed this pattern in the sidewalk the other day as we left the hospital. For some reason it caught my eye. Not too bad of a pic, I think.
Stolen? I never really looked close at the inside of my classic wool jacket from Old Navy. Notice it says "property of Old Navy"? Funny, cause I do remember paying for it...
Sweet Knit. I took this the other day. It's a close-up of one of my favorite pieces of clothing. It's an Austrian vest I got while on my mission. Stylish and comfy.
Heaven Bound. I've walked by this more than a dozen times, at least. I finally decided to stop and take a picture of it. I think it turned out pretty well. I really like the way the sky looks behind the pole.
Homemade Play-dough Fun. The other day we made salt play-dough for an activity for our Primary kids. That meant I got to create a bunch of things as well. This is a doll or sorts.
This Isn't Motel 6. I took this the other night while my kids rode their scooters up and down the driveway, even though it was close to freezing and almost dark outside. Kids are so resilient to things like that—I miss being that way.
You Want World Peace? Here's a little bit of advice that I found this morning that would put a huge dent in all the world's problems, both large and small.
Knock Knock. Funny thing about faith. The scripture reads "Knock and it shall be opened unto you.", but how many of us tend to look at the door with no apparent door knob and say how can the door be opened instead of simply knocking?
Debris. As I walked to work the other morning, contemplating the meaning of life, I passed by a trailer used to haul large construction equipment. As I examined it, I came across this little area with a few clumps of dirt. I really liked how this one turned out.
Yet Another Reason For Living. I took this sunset pic at the end of yet another other day that I was blessed to live. I think we really take for granted all of the things we have, especially in light of the recent earthquakes in Haiti and Chile. Let's count our blessings, and then help those that don't have as much.
As Far as the Eye Can See. I really like living outside of the big city, although living in the city would be fun. This is a string of power lines a mile or two away from home. You really don't see stuff like this in the city.
Hope. No joke, this was not a staged shot at all. I came across this on my daily walk to and from work and just had to take a picture of it. I think we could all use a little hope, don't you?
Friends Don't Let Friends Drive, Period. I saw this the other day and I though it was kind of funny. Then, a split second later, the title hit me. Ah, the joys of subtle inspiration.
Here Comes the Sun. So, I am a big fan of when the sun isn't quite over the mountains in the morning and the sun rays peek though first. This one was really cool. Just one solid line.
Peek-a-Boo Mountains and Clouds. This picture really doesn't do the moment justice. This was really, really cool looking. The clouds were totally swirled around the mountains, with areas peeking out here and there. Very beautiful.
Line, Lines Everywhere. For some odd reason, the lines in this picture remind me of the old 80s movie Tron—you know, the part with the bikes? Good times...
Knock Knock. It's amazing how many things from the past seem to be so full of life when you look at them through the lens of a camera (or in this case, on the screen of an iPhone). This is the front door bell at the house I grew up in. Still the same.
Old School Trees. The problem with a lot of the communities these days is that the trees in them are babies—50 years from now they won't be, but for now they are. While visiting my parents for a birthday celebration, I was really amazed at the detail and character that each tree in the old neighborhood possessed. These trees are perfect for climbing, at least they were when I was a lot younger.
